You may have seen THIS POST, about there being lots of public easements that have overgrown vegetation/weeds/etc. that have been long neglected. I commented that it was one of the things I hated about Abilene.
The curb appeal of Abilene could be SO much better if these areas were maintained, either by the owners of the private property, or by the appropriate Abilene public works department.OR… perhaps just by someone who has adopted a site, and taken it into their own hands to help beautify Abilene.
So, I did just that! I picked a corner I drive by almost every day, and cleaned it up a bit. I realized quickly, that I didn’t bring enough proper tools to complete the job to my satisfaction. But, I did what I could in about an hour
I plan on coming back soon to finish it up properly.
Whadda ya think?
A little time-lapse video of the cleanup:
Good job. I agree there are too many spots that look like that around town!
Lance, you are truly a Renaissance man! I hope your city is paying attention – because Abilene is a lovely old city but could be so much more if the Public Works Department had a director like you looking after the appearances of its streets and alleys.
